Abstract: The current political turbulence in Brazil has been a source of great concern and the path of our incipient democracy has become uncertain. In particular, the growth of evangelical candidacies over the last 20 years has brought conservative agendas that may limit or curtail the freedom of minorities who do not share the same moral values as different evangelical religious groups. As one of the main factors of electoral success is the financing of political campaigns, studying the campaign financing of these candidates may bring up new knowledge about this phenomenon. The central hypothesis is that new non-trivial categories will emerge from this processing and that it will be possible to categorize evangelical federal deputies based on their financing pattern. Political campaign finance data and the TSE election results database were used to find patterns and classifications among federal deputies elected in 2018 who are evangelicals. From the collected data, clustering techniques were used in order to compare the existing evangelical denominations classification with the machine-generated classification, thus making a critical analysis of the results. The research concluded that the financing pattern of evangelical deputies is distinct from that of other deputies, and it was possible to classify them into distinct groups. As the focus of the empirical research was the presence of evangelicals in Brazilian politics, the development of a methodological framework that facilitates the classification of political agents according to the type of funding and electoral success (or failure) opens new possibilities in the area of political science and also for information science, which has information retrieval and knowledge organization as one of its pillars.

Abstract: The early and prolonged access of children into the online universe draws attention to the
importance of the development of skills so they enjoy the opportunities offered by the
digital environment, as well as protect themselves from the risks. The pandemic of the
new coronavirus, and the consequent social isolation, changed the habits of children in
the use of the ICTs, mainly the time they spend online. This work aims, first, to
deconstruct the common sense that reverberates that the “digital natives” are born ready
to use electronic equipment because they demonstrate instrumental skills in the daily
handling of screens, the mobile being the most common one. For this, we base ourselves
in the concept of critical information literacy to advocate the need for children to develop
a critical attitude to deal in safe, ethical and healthy ways with a series of phenomena to
which they are exposed when they become consumers and producers of information. The
general objective of this work is to investigate and analyze the strategies that fathers and
mothers of children between 8 years old and 12 years old use to promote the critical
information literacy of sons and daughters in the use of smartphones. Regarding the
methodology, this is a qualitative research that included, in addition to the bibliographical
review covering the fields of Information Science, Social Communication, Philosophy
and Pedagogy, the analysis of the empirical data obtained through the application of 154
questionnaires and the realization of 15 in-depth semi-structured interviews, both
digitally accomplished. The responses were evaluated based on categories that cover the
types of use of the mobile, the time children spend using the device and the way in which
parental mediation is conducted. We found that, although some strategies are more
focused on restricting the use of the smartphone to avoid its risks, some parents stablish
a dialogue to raise awareness on ICTs use, approaching the fundaments of critical
information literacy and critical pedagogy.

Abstract: The dissertation investigates the hypothesis of free social work on internet platforms, reflecting on the
process of valuing and accumulating capital from programmatic media, an automated digital
advertising business model. Situated in the field of Political Information Economy and based on the
theory of extracting more-value from informational work, the research seeks to expose the relationship
between the commercialization of data, collected from users Internet browsing, to the pricing process
of auctions of real-time algorithms. The case study of the company Google, it is observed that the
platforms and stored data are under the control of a few companies that organize the production
process in the digital environment, changing socioeconomic relations and transforming leisure
activities and free time into productive work unpaid.

Abstract: This work proposes to discuss the music document and its written and sound
representation. The general objective is to investigate music as written and sound in
the representation and retrieval of information. As specific objectives, it aims to address
some of the main points in the history of music and identify if there are patterns of
representation and recovery in music. Descriptive research, with a qualitative and
quantitative approach, through observation, collection and analysis of data on music
databases, available in a virtual environment of Brazilian institutions and an
international specialized scientific production. The results identified descriptive fields
for technical processing in music in Brazilian institutions, signaling the most used terms
in scientific publications in the last two decades, leveled for the evolution of the theme
music in information retrieval. Among the institutions studied, the one that stands out
in relation to the representation, recovery and availability of the National Library
Foundation's virtual collection. We conclude that Information Science, when observing
music as a document, has theoretical potential for deepening patterns and not
improving the representation and recovery of music as writing and sound.
